Common questions

Do I need an Apple Pencil?

No. Apple Pencil on iPad gives the best feel, but you can write with your finger everywhere — it's on by default on iPhone and iPad. On iPad, if you'd rather your finger pan and zoom while the Pencil writes, turn off Settings ▸ Pen ▸ "Write with finger".

Do I need an account?

No. Ichigo Ichigo works fully offline with no sign-up. Everything you write stays on your device.

What is WaniKani, and do I need it?

It's optional. If you use WaniKani, you can connect it in Settings to practise writing the kanji it teaches you to read; it's part of the Everything purchase. If you don't, everything else works without it.

I bought Everything. How do I get it on another device?

Open Settings ▸ Restore Purchases while signed in with the same Apple Account. It's a one-time purchase, so there's nothing to renew.

How do I back up my progress?

Settings lets you export a backup file of all your data, and restore it later. iCloud sync across your devices is coming in a future update.

How is my privacy handled?

No data is collected, ever. See the Privacy Policy.
